  • Short History of the Estate

Hidden among the rolling hills of southeastern Slovenia, Pule Estate is a boutique estate with a heritage dating back to the 17th century. During the economic crisis of 1933, the grandfather of the current owner sold the estate to a wealthy Slovenian woman who had just returned from America. However, the story did not end there. More than seventy years later, in 2004, Jože Anderlič repurchased the estate—from the granddaughter of the former owner. By that time, the estate no longer resembled its former self. Decades of neglect had taken their toll, making an extensive renovation necessary, which reached its final form in 2006.

Today, the buildings on the estate stand exactly where they once stood. Only a few new additions were made—enchanting wooden cottages and a wellness center, completed in 2009.

The renovation was carried out with great respect for tradition, following original plans, with the exception of the magnificent toplar hayrack, which was carefully dismantled and relocated from the Litija area. The old house, the renovated stable, the hayrack, and the first of a series of wooden cabins now form a charming courtyard, shaded by a majestic walnut tree. In summer, tables are set beneath its branches, while in cooler months, breakfasts and shared dinners move into the renovated stable, where guests are separated from the horses by a thick glass wall.

In 2025, Pule reopened its doors with a new vision—as a boutique equestrian estate, where heritage, nature, luxury, and a love for horses intertwine. A place created to share a story that remained too long untold.

You can learn more about the history of the Anderlič family in the book available in your living area, or by visiting the museum located in the estate’s granary.
